CO2 and Greenhouse Gas Reduction

Picture
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of today and is driven largely by human activities that release carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases. These emissions affect temperature and weather patterns, which in turn have a negative impact on many aspects of life. This category encourages students to explore creative approaches to reduce carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions. Students may work individually or collaborate with others.

Students can come up with:
  • an idea
  • an initiative
  • an invention
  • an innovation
to reduce carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, students should do an age-appropriate personal reflection that shows meaningful insight and engagement with climate change. Additional prize money is awarded to the most thoughtful reflections for each year category.

The choice of presentation medium is open to students e.g. Word document, PowerPoint presentation, a video presentation, a website, a model etc.

Please refer to the competition booklet for the criteria to submit an entry into this category.
